There is a bit to say on the Tampa Bay Derby. The $400,000 dirt race is set to post at 5:34 PM ET. The Oldsmar, FL track is one and one sixteenth miles for this stakes featuring 3 year-old thoroughbreds. The Tampa Bay Derby was inaugurated in 1981. 105 points will be awarded towards the Kentucky Derby leaderboard. These points are broken down to 50-25-15-10-5 to the first five finishers in respective order. For race 11 on a card of 12, seven colts are entered as follows by post/horse/jockey/trainer/owner/morning-line odds/and Kentucky Derby prep points as applicable:
- Owen Almighty/Irad Ortiz, Jr./Brian Lynch/Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing, LLC./5-1/15 points
- Chancer McPatrick/Flavien Prat/Chad Brown/Flanagan Racing/8-5/10 points
- Hill Road/Tyler Gaffalione/Chad Brown/Amo Racing USA/4-1/9 points
- Brodeur/Jose Ortiz/Mark Casse/D.J.Stable, LLC./15-1
- Filoso/Dylan Davis/Chad Summers/Gold Square, LLC./15-1/3 points
- Naughty Rascal/Samy Camacho/Gerald Bennett/Mr Pug, LLC. and J.P.G., LLC./20-1
- Patch Adams/Florent Geroux/Brad Cox/WinStar Farm, LLC and CHC, Inc./2-1/4 points

With their sights set on the Kentucky Derby in May, for now we can watch the talent develop in the Tampa Bay Derby. The races will be televised on FS2 from 4:30 to 7 PM ET and varied times on Fan Duel TV. I’m looking forward to the shake up on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard. Have a great weekend and share Thoroughbred U with a friend. Thank you.
