Following forty four prep races over the course of eight months there are now only two stakes left that offer points to qualify for the Kentucky Derby. Saturday, we will see the final two preps, the Lexington Stakes and the Arkansas Derby. These are the last laps, on the Road to The KY Derby.

We are just one month away from the 147th Kentucky Derby! Only six preps remain. All these preps will be raced in the next ten days, to shape the final ranking of the leaderboard. Two of these last preps will be held at Keeneland race course! Time spent at the track is always a great pleasure. It is pure joy to ride on The Road, especially when it is at Keeneland. The Road to The Kentucky Derby doubles up on the points in the preps this weekend. With the top of the leaderboard at a high of 60 points in seven months of racing on The Road, the best of the Louisiana Derby will take the lead. This race, and many that follow, offer an escalated point scale. The first four finishers of the Louisiana Derby will earn 100-40-20-10 points, respectively! This race has historically good odds of placing runners in The KY Derby. How many of the eight in the gate of this Louisiana Derby will Run For The Roses?

Saratoga Springs Race Track is “The Summer Place!” This weekend and into the next week, Saratoga is sensational with stakes, sales and ceremony. Racing at Saratoga boasts the second leg of each division of the new Turf Triple Series as well as Marylou Whitney Day and many other graded stakes. Fasig-Tipton will host “The Crown Jewel of North American Yearling Sales”, The Saratoga Sale. Moreover, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame inducted the class of 2019!

Bring on the Belmont Stakes! It has been a Triple Crown series full of surprises and I expect there will be plenty of twists for the ten who compete in “The Test of the Champion.” Who will that champion be? We shall soon see. For the time being, here’s the brief on the Belmont.
