Del Mar Thoroughbred Club was selected to host the Breeders’ Cup, for the third time. Del Mar’s racecourse is located right off of the Pacific Ocean beach, in sunny Del Mar, California. Open since 1937, Del Mar is “Where The Surf Meets The Turf”.
The 41st edition of the Breeders’ Cup has a total of 212 thoroughbred entries. These contenders represent horses from five different continents. Eighty thoroughbreds are from outside of the United States, a new record for the event. The fourteen Breeders’ Cup races are split over the course of two days. Future Stars Friday, for 2 year-olds, is 11/1/24 and includes five Breeders’ Cup races on a card of ten. Next, Championships Saturday is 11/2/24 and features nine Breeders’ Cup races on a card of twelve. The purse money exceeds $34 million dollars!

Don’t miss the racing at Del Mar. Unfortunately, I can not attend the Breeders’ Cup World Championships but you can bet I’ll be watching. Future Stars Friday will be on USA Network from 4 PM to 8 PM ET on 11/1 . Next, on 11/2, USA Network will televise the Breeders’ Cup from 2 PM ET until 3 PM ET and 6 PM until 8 PM ET. During the gap, NBC will televise the races from 3:30 PM ET until 6 PM ET. Meanwhile, the races will be streaming on NBC Sports App, NBC Sports.com BreedersCup.com and Peacock. Furthermore, FanDuel will televise every Breeders’ Cup race, except the Classic, on The Players’ Show.
