WHAT: The Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby is a Grade 1, $3 million dollar dirt race of 1 and 1/4 miles for 3 year-old thoroughbreds that earned points in qualifying races throughout the previous racing year on The Road to the Kentucky Derby.
WHEN: Saturday, 9/5/20 the KY Derby will post at approximately 7:01 PM ET. It is the 14th race on card of 14. The first race posts at 11 AM ET.
WHERE: The KY Derby is always held at Churchill Downs In Louisville, KY. There will be no spectators this year due to concerns over the COVID 19 pandemic. The race will be broadcast on television. In America, Fox Sports 2 will show the under card from 11 AM to 2:30 PM ET and NBC will cover the races from 2:30 PM until 7:30 PM ET.
WHY: Because we love it! The world has faced several trials and tribulations but the KY Derby has never stopped, it has raced continuously since 1875. Thus, it is the longest continually held sport in our country. The race has a rich history and is enjoyed by fans world wide. Many thoroughbred fans recognize this race and track as legendary. Usually, the first jewel in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, the KY Derby is a very important and treasured race. Do note that this year the Belmont Stakes raced first and Tiz the Law won it!
HOW: It is pure talent and a bit of luck. How to win the KY Derby is an age old mystery! It is going to be an exciting race and even if the favorite wins it will take exceptional betting skills to get a nice price.
