Many charities do wonders to care for OTTBs, off-track Thoroughbreds. Most horses are finished with their racing careers by age 8 or earlier. Some will go on to have long breeding careers, others are retrained and repurposed in non-racing sports and various activities. Moreover, some just need a happy, safe home. Here are a few organizations that help the horses:

Other charities help out the human athletes and their connections. Some injuries can lead to temporary and long term disablement. These people could use some support too. Click these links to help out:
I hope that this year has not been too much of a struggle for you. Some may best serve by taking care of themselves and their immediate family during these harsh times. However, many people might be able to give a little extra knowing that some folks and animals could really use the extra care. If you have the means, think about how you might help. Please, make this Giving Tuesday one when you have a heart for the horses!
