Fall Stars Weekend kicks-off on Friday with the daily first post time of 1 PM ET. The Fall Meet will feature 22 stakes races, worth $6 million dollars in purse money. Ten of these stakes are “Win and You’re In” automatic berth races for next month’s Breeders’ Cup World Championship. Nine of these BC qualifying races are in Keeneland’s first three days of racing. Four stakes, this meet, are new or returning from another point in the long, rich racing history. There will be so many stars in these stakes.

That is a nice list of stakes to be played out over the meet. Live racing is hosted at Keeneland on Wednesdays through Sundays during the remainder of October, with the final day falling on a Saturday. Crowds are capped at 20,000 fans daily so if you can attend, plan or buy tickets ahead of time. The BC preps on 10/8 will be televised on NBCSN at 5 PM ET. Three preps will be on the same channel, Saturday, 10/9, at 5 PM ET, 2 preps on Sunday, 10/10, at 4:30 PM ET and the final BC prep on Wednesday, 10/13, at 4 PM ET. Most BC Challenge Races can also be viewed live on TVG or TVG2, as are the majority of races at Keeneland.
With the BC scheduled for November 5th and 6th at Del Mar, Keeneland is offering some of the last opportunities for a berth. Last year, Eclipse Award winner, Essential Quality, took that opportunity in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity and has shown sheer star power before and thereafter. Beyond the BC horses racing at Keeneland, this meet will go on to heavily impact the sport in a complex variety of ways on an international level. There is no telling what grandiose star power we may witness this meet. Who do you have your sites set on?
Thank you for enjoying Thoroughbred U. I will have the chance to attend some of Keeneland’s Fall Meet and I look forward to the opportunity to share that experience with you. I’m ready for the stars and stakes at Keeneland!
