The 69 Summer Stakes are spectacular at Saratoga!  This Friday, 7/21/17, live action returns to The Spa track and it will be a fast and fantastic 40 days for racing fans.  Opening weekend spotlights filly and mare stakes.  Some of America’s best will race including the talented, Lady Eli!

It is finally Kentucky Derby week!  As most of you racing fans do, I spend my time, Always Dreaming (a current contender’s name) of a new Triple Crown winner.  I watch the Kentucky Derby leaderboard, race by race, to see which 20 horses will get a chance at the Run for the Roses, the first jewel of the crown, the KY Derby!  I have the great fortune that 3 of the prep races take place on my home track, Keeneland in Lexington, KY.  Keeneland’s Spring meet wrapped on Friday and what a meet it was.

Tepin wins the Breeders' Cup Mile
Tepin wins the Breeders’ Cup Mile

Last week was bittersweet.  There were plenty of new and returning champions on the racing scene but a personal favorite retired.  Tepin, Queen of the Turf,  has chosen to quit racing and her connections obliged.  Fortunately, Tepin retired sound.  The big question now is, who will fill Tepin’s horseshoes?
