To begin with, the DraftKings Travers Stakes is a Grade I, 1 and 1/4 mile dirt race at Saratoga Racetrack for 3 year-old thoroughbreds. Several contenders for 3 year-old Champion of the Year are entered. Post time at the New York track is 6:10 PM ET. Lucky race 13 is on a card of 14 races. Fox will televise the under card from 11 AM to 1:30 PM ET on Fox Sports 2, then 1:30 PM to 3 PM ET on Fox Sports 1 and finally 3 PM to 6:30 PM ET on Fox. Meanwhile, FanDuel TV will televise racing too.

Furthermore, eight Kentucky bred thoroughbreds are entered in the Travers Stakes. These horses include a Kentucky Derby runner up, a Belmont Stakes winner, a Kentucky Oaks winner (thus a filly), an undefeated colt, a Sir Barton Stakes winner, a Jim Dandy Stakes winner, an Ohio Derby winner, and a Kentucky Jockey Club stakes winner. Should the filly, Thorpedo Anna, win, she would be the first female to take the Travers in 110 years! The Travers, inaugurated in 1864, has had only eight fillies win the race.

Lastly, thank you for reviewing some of the most important matters in the Travers. Thoroughbred U loves posting on Derby coverage and is rather thrilled about this Mid-Summer Derby as well. Don’t forget to catch the big race this weekend and then check in again later for more thoroughbred postings.
