The Breeders’ Cup World Championships takes place this fine Friday and Saturday, 11/6 and 11/7/20 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, KY, “The Horse Capitol of the World.” Twenty-two races are on the two day card. Fourteen of those races are BC championships! One hundred eighty four thoroughbreds have entered into these championships! Five BC races are scheduled for Friday and nine BC races take place on Saturday. This year welcomes 39 international horse contenders, despite travel challenges. The 2020 BC actually features one more contender than Keeneland offered at their first/former hosting in 2015 and 13 more entries than last year in Santa Anita. Check out the 14 Champion Races:

This Breeders’ Cup features so much talent that I can not discuss them all. The winners of each leg of the 2020 Triple Crown are entered. Kentucky Derby winner, Authentic, and Belmont Stakes winner, Tiz the Law, will face off in the Classic. Preakness winner, Swiss Skydiver, has entered the Distaff. Also, the 2019 Preakness winner, War of Will, will compete in the Dirt Mile. 2019 Oaks winner, Serengeti Empress will end her career in the BC Filly and Mare Sprint. 2019 KY Derby controversial disqualified Maximum Security will compete in the Classic too. Often times, winners of BC races go on to win Eclipse Awards as do their connections. It is very likely that the Classic will determine the Horse of the Year.
This Breeders’ Cup will have very limited visitors due to the ongoing pandemic. Please, safely enjoy the races on television. NBC Sports Network will broadcast Friday’s races from 2 PM until 5:30 PM ET. On Saturday, NBCSN will feature the races from 12 PM until 2:30 PM ET and then NBC will cover the BC from 2:30 until 5:30 PM ET.
I will be attending this Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland as I did when they hosted the 2015 edition. I hope to take some nice pictures and share them with the followers of Thoroughbred U. Thank you and happy Breeders’ Cup!
